Evaluating Your Loved One’s Needs

When exploring care options for a family member, the best course of action is to start by determining their needs. Consider these questions:

What would be the highest quality living experience for your loved one?

If they wish to stay where they currently reside, what do they need to make it a “safe environment” based on their current physical and mental condition?

Moving forward, how can AccuCare help them achieve the highest quality of life with the greatest amount of independence?

How can we give your loved one maximum mental/emotional support while maintaining their dignity?

Working together, we can create a plan that meets your loved one’s needs, and enhances their life. For a free, no obligation nursing assessment, call 314-692-0020.

Choosing A Private Home Care Provider

If you or your family are in need of a private duty home care services, here are a few important questions you should ask about an agency and its caregivers:

  • Do the caregivers work as employees of a “home healthcare agency,” or is it merely a “registry” for independent contractors?
  • Is the staff bonded and insured by the agency?
  • Are caregivers paid through the agency or directly by the client after each visit?
  • Who is responsible if caregivers are injured in your home — the agency or the client/family?
  • Is there a registered nurse on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for medical emergencies?
  • Does the agency conduct background and reference checks, drug testing, health testing and skill competency levels for each caregiver?
  • Is there a Registered Nurse who makes care oversight home visits?
